Environmental Consultancy
for Water & Infrastructure
Environmental design & delivery assurance for water and infrastructure projects. We help you identify environmental risks early so delivery can keep on track.
We resolve the environmental and regulatory risks that delay your projects.
As an environmental consultancy for the water and infrastructure sectors, we resolve the risks that most often stall regulated schemes: consents and permitting, contaminated land, water and discharge constraints, protected sites and ecology, waste and the regulatory interface. We build them into the design from the start.
Each service family below is delivered as part of one integrated, managed environmental service, working from our own ground investigation and laboratory data, by the same team that takes schemes to construction-ready design. We support water-sector clients through AMP8 and developers across regulated infrastructure.
Ground & Geo-Environmental: Contaminated Land
We deliver contaminated land assessment and geo-environmental services across regulated sites, including Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations, soil and groundwater risk assessments, and remediation strategy and verification. Our work draws directly on our in-house ground investigation and laboratory capability, turning site data into clear, defensible environmental conclusions.
By combining investigation, interpretation and design within one team, we help clients understand ground risk early and convert it into practical decisions on remediation, reuse and materials, reducing uncertainty, cost and delay before construction begins.
Key capabilities:
- Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land assessment
- Soil and groundwater risk assessment and remediation strategy
- Earthworks, materials reuse and remediation verification
Environmental Permitting, Consents & Approvals
We provide environmental permitting and consents support: environmental permits (EPR), industrial (IED) compliance, discharge consents and abstraction licences that regulated schemes depend on. We interpret regulatory requirements early and build them into the design, rather than treating them as a late-stage hurdle.
Working closely with regulators and design teams, we set a clear consents strategy that de-risks programme and planning, giving clients confidence that schemes are deliverable and compliant from the outset.
Key capabilities:
- Environmental permitting (EPR) and IED compliance
- Discharge consents, abstraction and regulator engagement
- Consents strategy and planning-condition discharge
Water, Flood Risk & Drainage
We provide flood risk assessment, drainage and SuDS design and water-quality support across clean water, wastewater and infrastructure schemes, covering hydrogeology and groundwater. Our focus is on resolving water constraints within the design, where they are most easily managed.
We integrate water and hydro-environmental requirements into engineering design, including nature-based solutions such as treatment wetlands and nutrient management, helping clients meet tightening water-quality and AMP8 obligations efficiently and compliantly.
Key capabilities:
- Water quality, discharge and hydrogeological assessment
- Flood risk, drainage and SuDS design
- Nature-based water and nutrient management solutions
Ecology, Protected Species & Biodiversity Net Gain
We deliver ecology surveys, protected species assessment and biodiversity net gain (BNG) strategy to keep schemes compliant with biodiversity and protected-species requirements, including habitat creation and management. Ecological constraints are identified early and built into design and consents.
By treating biodiversity as a design input rather than a separate workstream, we help clients meet their obligations in a way that supports, rather than delays, delivery, and that turns net-gain requirements into measurable, lasting outcomes.
Key capabilities:
- Ecological survey, appraisal and protected species
- Biodiversity net gain (BNG) assessment and strategy
- Habitat creation, management and monitoring

Construction Environmental Management (CEMP)
We author construction environmental management plans (CEMPs) and EMPs, and the method statements, monitoring and assurance that keep delivery compliant on site. Our involvement translates environmental design and consents into practical construction controls, carrying the commitments made at design stage through to construction.
Acting as the environmental link between design and construction, we manage permit and consent compliance, contractor assurance and close-out evidence, reducing the risk of stoppages, breaches and rework, and giving clients a clear audit trail.
Key capabilities:
- CEMP/EMP authoring and environmental controls
- Permit and consent compliance monitoring
- Contractor assurance and close-out evidence
Waste & Materials Management Plans
We prepare materials management plans and waste strategy that keep schemes compliant and cost-effective, covering duty of care, waste classification and site waste minimisation. Our advice is built on our own ground and laboratory data, giving robust, defensible classifications.
By developing materials reuse and waste strategies early, including materials management plans under the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste Code of Practice, we minimise disposal, cost and programme risk, and keep materials on site wherever practical.
Key capabilities:
- Duty of care and waste classification
- Materials management plans (MMP / CL:AIRE)
- Site waste strategy and minimisation
Air Quality, Noise & Environmental Monitoring
We provide air quality assessment, noise and vibration assessment and environmental monitoring through design and construction, covering dust and emissions. Assessment informs the design; monitoring confirms that controls are working once schemes are under way.
Our monitoring demonstrates compliance with permits, planning conditions and legislation, giving clients the evidence they need to manage impacts on neighbours and the environment and to maintain regulator and community confidence.
Key capabilities:
- Air quality assessment and monitoring
- Noise, vibration and dust monitoring
- Compliance monitoring and reporting
Carbon, Net Zero & Climate Resilience
We support carbon and net zero goals through carbon and net-zero advisory, climate risk and adaptation assessment, and natural capital and ESG appraisal, bringing these considerations into design and decision-making from an early stage.
By aligning schemes with regulatory, client and reporting requirements, we help ensure that environmental performance is designed in, supporting resilient, lower-carbon assets that stand up to scrutiny over their lifecycle.
Key capabilities:
- Carbon and net-zero advisory
- Climate risk and adaptation assessment
- Natural capital and ESG appraisal
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) & Advisory
We lead environmental impact assessment (EIA) and the strategic environmental advisory that ties the service families into a single, managed offer, coordinating EIA and early environmental strategy across each scheme. This gives clients one accountable point for environmental risk across the project.
From the earliest design stages, we identify the environmental constraints that shape feasibility, programme and consents, and set the strategy to manage them, ensuring environmental risk is understood and owned, not discovered late.
Key capabilities:
- EIA screening, scoping, coordination and management
- Strategic environmental and constraints advice
- Senior environmental lead for design teams
